On The Fence Products

On The Fence Products

Not a lot of people discuss the products they’re currently on the fence about. Probably for a reason, but I like to know what products people aren’t completely sure about. That’s weird, right? Right. I decided that I’ll start the conversation and discuss the products that I think I like, but I’m not completely sold.

NYX Eyebrow Pencil: my eyebrow pencil ran out and I didn’t have time to run to Sephora to grab another. I have liked other products by NYX and when I went to Target, I decided to pick up their eyebrow pencil. The thing I really like about this pencil is that the texture is smooth and glides easily. However, it rubs off easily and doesn’t seem to last all day.

Kevin Aucoin Curling Mascara: the packaging on this mascara is gorgeous. I don’t know why I love it so much, but it’s sleek, compact and red. And everyone knows I love me some red. This mascara does the job. It stays in place for the day, buuuut, I hate the way it comes off. I think it has a gel like texture and will peel off the eyelashes. Some people may find this nice, as it is easy to take off, but I didn’t enjoy it and found it kind of gross. Yet, it is a good mascara…

Être Belle Liplift Peel: my lips get super dry in the winter months and peel like crazy. I’m one of those gross individuals that has the layer of visibly peeling lip skin (grossssss). I thought this might be a different alternative to my Lush lip treatment. It glides on like a lipgloss. Once applied, you’re supposed to rub your lips together and leave the peel sit on top of your lips before you wipe it off with a warm cloth. I noticed after using I see a slight difference in the texture of my lips and my lipsticks stay on longer throughout the day. On the other hand, I don’t like the feel of the product and it’s kind of expensive. I think I’ll stick with Lush on this one.

Anatomicals Puffy the Eye Bag Slayer: okay, so I think I really like this one, but I’m not totally sold. The other week I woke up with two swollen eyes and I popped these underneath to help the process. After thirty minutes, I took them off and noticed a difference in the puffiness. My skin felt smooth, but slightly too tight as if my skin had been dramatically stretched. I’m going to give these babies one more chance, and perhaps try other products by the brand since their packaging and marketing are so fantastic.

Redken Iron Shape 11: I’m horrific with my hair care and I have been trying very hard to get better at hair maintenance. Heat protectant before and after, I’ve heard, is super beneficial to the hair, so I picked this travel size Redken up to test out. I love the smell of the product. I think it’s easy to work with, buuuuuut, I feel as if it hardens the hair after use. Strands of my hair seem to group together almost as if I used hair spray, which I hate the feeling of. Sadly, I don’t think I’ll repurchase this product, but it was an okay one to use for awhile.

What are some products you’re currently unsure about?

October Favorites

October Favorites

I’ve never done one of these things before, and kind of find it intimidating to divulge what I’ve been really digging in the month of October. October was a weird month for me that seemed both impossibly slow and incredibly fast. Did Halloween really happen four days ago? I feel like it shouldn’t have happened for another couple weeks, but alas, we’ve already experienced October and the following things are what I loved during the month.

Real Techniques Blush Brush

It’s a brush for your blush that you apply on your cheeks to give you a superficial blush. I used to hate blush because I have a lot of redness in my face already, but once I found a color that worked for me, I’m really into adding pink on the apples of my cheeks (what a weird expression, apples of one’s cheeks). Anyway, it’s cheap and good and made by the Pixiwoo sisters, who are rad.

Essie Mink Muffs

I stumbled across this color at Wal-Mart on sale. I wasn’t too sure about the color at first, to be honest. But ended up falling in love with the muted gray and brown undertones.

Origins Clear Improvement

Horror of horrors, I have acne and blackheads and this shit works wonders for both of them. I use it a couple times a week when I feel like I’m starting to stress out and my skin feels gross, which is a lot more often lately. Before I eat breakfast in the morning or during my nightly routine, I’ll pop this on and give it about 10 minutes before rinsing off with a warm cloth and I’ve seen a great improvement in my skin’s texture and pore situation.

Burberry Brit Perfume

I ran out of this awhile back and have been using other perfumes in place of Brit, but when you love a scent, you just can’t give it up.

Bumble and Bumble Creme de Coco

This shampoo is so great. It smells like coconut and lathers really easily. Although the bottle is small and the price is high, you only need a small amount of the shampoo and next day hair is not as greasy as it was when I use other shampoos. For me, I get a longer use out of this shampoo than I have with others in the past.

Ponds Dry Skin Cream

I get terribly bored with moisturizers quickly. However, my grandma and mother are the one that introduced me to this little guy. I’ve been using this all month and my skin feels SO good, even in the dry air.

Revlon Colorstay Moisture Stains

These are my go-to lip products. I’m horrible with putting on lipsticks because they always wear off on my mouth, but these babies stay in place all FREAKING DAY! These are my two favorite colors out of the collection. The red is the New York color and the berry color is the Parisian shade.

I apologize about my nail polish at the moment. It is very chipped because I keep forgetting to re-paint them. Bad beauty blogger.
